South Jersey Gas offers the Whole Home Energy Solutions (WHES) Program, where homeowners can receive a 50% rebate of up to $6,000 off the WHES program's comprehensive weatherization package that includes:
- Blower door testing of your home's infiltration rate before and after the work is completed.
- Air sealing of holes drilled for plumbing, wiring, gas lines, ductwork, and gaps in framing to bring your home up-to-date with today's fire codes. This improves your home's efficiency by getting your home to keep the air that you paid to have heated and cooled from escaping into the attic. It also keeps the attic air temperature from affecting your home's comfort with cold air drafts and warm air temperature differences. And it helps keep out dust and pollen from the attic that affects your home's air quality.
- Installation of wind baffles and proper venting ensures that your attic is well ventilated to prevent mold issues.
- Insulation and weather stripping of your attic access.
- Venting out bath fans properly to prevent mold in your attic and bathroom ceiling.
- Insulating your open attic floors to today's code levels.
- Testing of your gas lines for gas leaks.
- Testing of lower-efficiency heating and water heating for backdrafting and carbon monoxide levels.
You can also add:
- Insulation for basement and crawl space walls and floors.
- Air sealing of ductwork with mastic.
- Insulating floor over garages.
- Insulating floor overhangs to the outside.
- Replacing water heaters with high-effiency water heaters such as "On Demand".
- Replacing your furnace or boiler with a high-efficiency gas furnace or boiler.
- Replacing your air conditioner with a high-efficiency central A/C unit.
